How to Make a Recycled Sweater Boot

video How to Make a Recycled Sweater Boot
This is my first time making a tutorial and making my own shoe/boot. I used an old sneaker and a cute old sweater I found at the goodwill store. This process will take you at 2 days. It's best to practice on something cheaper before you go all out on a boot that you really like the pattern. If you have any questions or any improvement, please let me know!  I hope you enjoy.  Thank you!

Cute boots, but I think you left out something, or else I missed it, so I have a couple of questions about how to begin this project:

(1) How does one determine the size and shape of the pattern pieces so that they fit a person's foot? I saw the little inset showing the pattern pieces in your video, but no dimensions relative to the size of the finished boot, so it's not clear to me how big to draw those shapes to make a 3-dimensional item that fits my foot. Maybe you could include a PDF of the pattern pieces you used, saying what size boot it makes and what edge(s) need to be re-sized in order to fit a longer or shorter foot.

(2) Once you have drawn the pattern pieces to the right size, it would help to show how you laid them onto the sweater border to get that pretty design where you wanted it to be on the boots.

It seems to me that you skipped over all that and show how to make the boots from the point where you start sewing the cut pieces together. Maybe the answers to my questions are obvious, but I don't get it!

For me, the best part of the video is how you did the trim and soles. Nice job on that. Also, thanks for the link at the end to the site about making "real" shoes. Those look a LOT harder to make, so I think I should try sweater boots first!
