Introduction: How to Make a Water Bottle Carrier Out of Duct Tape

About: I know more than you

Do you ever go on a run or walk but can't go far because you don't want to carry a water bottle with you? A Camel Bak is okay, but they're heavy and clunky (tell me that doesn't sound like the snuggie commercial). That's why I'm going to show you how to make a water bottle carrier that slides right onto your belt.

I actually got this idea from Family Fun Magazine, but I modified it a little, so you should give them some credit, to. Also, I'm working on a Mac, and Macs don't like adding image notes, so just bare with me.

Tell me how I did in the comments!!!

Step 1: Ingredients

O.K, these are the things you need

-Duct Tape (of course)
-A Belt (unless you want to make one out of duct tape)
-Scissors or a knife (even if you rip your tape, you'll at least need scissors)
-Water bottle (this works with pretty much any bottle, so don't be lazy like me and USE A REUSABLE ONE!!

Optional
-Ruler
-Marker
-Hands are preferable, but not necessarily necessary

Step 2: The Cloth

Please dear god no! Not the cloth!!! ;)

So first, we have to make the duct tape cloth. Take 1 piece of tape about 1 foot long, sticky side up, and put it on the table. Next, take another piece of tape about the same size and put half way up the first piece (just look at the pics.) After that, flip over the whole thing and put another piece of tape right above the last one. Then just keep repeating until you get 3 rows on both sides. Basically, It should be like the last picture on both sides.

Step 3: Trimming the Cloth

AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So now, you got a piece of duct tape cloth. So what the Hello kitty do you do with it? Well first, you'll want to cut the sides so they're nice and straight. Then, take the duct cloth (ask nicely, first) and find the sticky side (top or bottom) that has the most sticky stuff showing and put that on the bottom After that, take the top and fold it over itself so it's nice and smooth. Next, you want to take the scissors (or just rip it) and cut the bottom into strips like in pics. 1 and 3. these strips are IMPORTANT.

Step 4: Folding and Fitting

No Chuck Norris with a freakn' bb gun? Bullcrap!!

After you do the other steps, take your water bottle and wrap the cloth around it with the tabs on the bottom and the sticky part of the tabs facing OUT. Make sure it's loose enough to let the bottle slide out with ease. Then, take a SMALL piece of tape and tape it together. This next part is sort of hard to explain, but look at the pictures if you don't get it. Take to of the tabs, and fold them to the center sticking one tab to another. Now, take another one and stick that to the previous to tabs. Keep on doing this until all the tabs are stuck together. You now have part one of the bottom.

Note - I took these pictures a little out of order but you should trim the cloth first.

Step 5: The Rest of the Bottom

Yo getting close!

Now, you should make a piece of Duct Cloth"* that's about 3" by 3" and put the tube on it sticky side down. Next, cut around the tube to create a circle. This is the bottom, and you should press it down for good measure. After that, cut a piee of tape about 10" long and wrap it around the bottom sticky side in with about half sticking out like the picture. Then cut it into tabs and fold them in, sealing the bottom

Note: I traced the circle then put it on the bottom. Don't do it that way. Do the way I explained above.

*The TM is random. It's not really trademarked.

Step 6: The Strap

The last step!!!

O.K, you're on the home stretch! First, cut a piece of duct tape that's a little taller than the holder. Then, put it on the seam of the 2 ends and tuck the excess inside. On that tape, you'll want to cut 2 slits that go horizontally, the width of 1 piece of tape, and 1 3/4" above the other (you might have to change this depending on the width of belt). Then, take 2 pieces of tape about 8" long and stick them together with both sticky sides together. Put this through the two slits, cut to size (to loosely fit on the belt) and tape it together.
