Cool! I don't have a metal detector, but my friend does, and we go searching for arrows at the archery range. I know this is random, but I just found $5 on the ground an hour ago.

lol lucky. I once found 20 that someone left in an ATM. I have checked them ever since. arrows at the archery range is a great idea. I always shoot til I run out. you could sell them for 3 bucks apiece.

What an odd but sensible subject... nice instructable, only point I'd like to make is that the beach means less effort...

What model MD do you have? I have a Bounty Hunter 101, or some kind of beginner model. Do lacrosse balls have a lead core or something? Why would they show up as metal? I even found some old broken pottery once. It must have had a lead glaze because there was nothing else in the hole.

COOL! I am also into metal detecting (over 10 years now).

Just a few tips. You might want to include how to make a good clean trapdoor plug for deep targets.

Here is a video of it that I made a long time ago... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqRyBlS8220

Also...the use of a handheld pinpointer can help you find the target in the hole easier without tearing up the ground as much. You can also find the target a lot quicker with a handheld pinpointer (the "vibrapprobe" seems to be the most popular pinpointer, but I prefer to use an old whites bullseye 120mm pinpointer)

And a more precision hand trowel (like the lesche digger or predator tools digger) will allow you to cut into the ground much easier than a regular garden trowel (see plug cutting video link above)

No problem! And just to let you know, my Instructables Robot Toy Figure Instructable will be up soon! Not today, maybe Monday. I'm not sure.

You are right.
I am trying to keep it a secret!
Do you think my Instructable for that will get unpublished if I just post on how to make the head right now? And then I post the body, legs, arms, and wheels and stuff later? (They will be two different Instructables, Part 1 and Part 2.) I finished the head, and I can't do the body because they ran out of yellow Sculpley at the store, so I bought this different brand, and it sucks. Kind of. =/

Yeah, but I want to post it soon because people are expecting it. *cough* Kiteman. *cough*.

I'll try to see what I can do.
I'm actually posting an Instructable right now, I'll tell you when it's done!
