How to Pair Up Single Socks

Everyone knows the farms where socks are grown always sterilize the socks they sell socks so we can't breed and grow our own.

But what few people realize is that socks still have the instinct to pair up and you can use that to your advantage.

Step 1: The Right Environment for Sock Pairing

I'm sure we have all noticed that socks tend to crawl into dark, quiet, out of the way places and love to hide next to other pieces of clothing.

This is the clue to where to set up your sock pairing area. Pick a quiet cloths closet with plenty of soft materials.

I find that using an old laundry basket works great, they seem to spend lots of time there normally so why not let them pair up there.

Step 2: Make a Habit of Adding Your Lone Socks

Anytime you finish sorting your socks, take the strays and add them to the pairing chamber.

Don't waste time looking for a mate right away, it takes time for an individual sock to find a mate and change their appearance to match each other.

It works best if you only check your sock pairing chamber every 3 to 6 months, or when you haven't done laundry for a while and really need a clean pair of socks.

As you can see in the picture, I put 4 odd socks in the pairing chamber and left them for 3 months.

Step 3: Check for Your Paired Socks!

The above picture shows the same 4 socks I put in the pairing chamber 3 months ago.

Notice the two on the right have paired up!

They aren't exact but now look close enough to wear as a pair.

I have been keeping a sock breeding chamber for over 15 years and have saved untold dollars not having to buy new socks!

There have even been a few times when all the socks in my pairing chamber have mated.
