How to Properly Care for a Betta Fish

Step 8Water Changes

Water Changes
Every aquarium needs its water changed. With bettas, this process is usually more frequent in aquariums without filtration. The smaller the tank, the more frequent water changes. With one-gallon aquariums, the water should be changed 1-2x/week at about 10-25% with water treated for chlorine with a similar temperature as your aquarium's. A gravel vacuum (Image 2) should be utilized to remove debris from the gravel.

Actually for one gallon tanks, 100% of the water should be changed daily. 2-3 gallons should be changed at least 2 times a week a 50 and 100% change. and 5 gallons and larger should have 25-50% changed once weekly.
