Step 4 Install and Archive Ion

After you downloaded Ion and put it on your calculator press the "PRGM" key and youll see the three programs, execute the first one and it should say "Ion installed."

After that press second and the the plus key then 2 then 7
then go over the three programs and press enter so that there is a star next to it. If there is a star next to it then it is archived. The good thing about the archive is that you have more space in your RAM and if your RAM is deleted your archive is not. This way if Ion gets erased just unarchive those three and re-install, then archve them again.

I really recommend you dont download ion. instead of downloading ION, download doors cs. just search it on google and you should find a place where you can download it. its basically the same thing as ion but its more organized and easier to use. once you have download it on your calculator just go to your applications and select it.

another problem people might have once they get the games downloaded is that doring gameplay the screen will be all wavy and slanted. this is caused by cheap screens in the calculators. so if this happens to you go here http://tiwizard.com/downloads/view.php?id=44 just run this in doors cs/mirash os/ION and your screen should be fixed...until a ram clear. if that happens just run this program again and it will work again.

btw if you get a syntax error you are not downloading the games properly... you need to open the compresed file, read the instructions more carefully

oh and make sure you backup your files on your computer using ti connect. i am almost cretain you will have to redownload everything at some point. sometimes something will mess up on the calculator and corrupt data. if something bad happens and your calculator starts to function improperly immediately erase everything ont the calculator to prevent any perminent dammage to your calculator. if you dont know how do delete everything press the 2nd button, press the + button with mem wriiten above it in blue or purple.. srry im colorblind, scroll down the page with the arrow buttons and select 7: Reset..., now at the top of the screen it should say RAM ARCHIVE ALL, press the right arrow twice so ALL is highlited, hit enter, now it should have a last warning about what will happen if you delete everything and select RESET. now your calculater should only do math problems so just hook it up to the computer and restore everything that was origionally on there.

i hope this will help some people and if you have a question or need help on something just tell me. I have downloaded many games on my calculator and have had it for about a year now... just make sure your questions are about the games on the calculator, i barely know how the math solving part works:)

where does it say to open the compressed file? I've extracted all the files and opened the folders it told me too. when it said to execute the ion program it just gives me the syntax message

1 find a place to download games from (i like to use ticalc.org)
2 click on the file you want to download
3 open the file
4 extract all files
5 send all the game files to your calculator
6 in the window that pops up for what your downloading, look at the ends of the files
7 you want the end to say 8XP (unless your downloading an app... you can tell if its an app if the picture in the file is a calculator with a lightning bolt) NOT 83P!
8 make sure you send the files to archive and not RAM

eer... did you look in the (2nd) ion folder...
in the extracted folder there are to more folders callen ion,
the files are in there (click the 2nd one).

Double-click the left one then select those three files and send them to RAM.

i have figured it out! you have to go to "2nd->Mem->UnArchive" and then "Prgm->ION" after you UnArchive it it should work.

I was getting pretty frustrated when I kept getting that message.. but I think I know why.. You might've transferred the wrong file. I have window XP and there's two ion file: ion.8xg and ion.83g You have to use the ion.8xg one.. hope this helped you a bit;;

where it shows where teh file is located, where the address bar thing is for the directory, example : C:/Documents and settings/Bob/Desktop/Ion.8xg that would be the correct file C:/Documents and settings/Bob/Desktop/Ion.83g would be the wrong one

2)Unzipped it and..
3)There was bunch of files! ; (see attached img)

If you double click either of the ion files, on XP, on the top bar where the directory is shown, it will show you the name of the file, or if you still cant, go to Control panel, Appearance and themes, folder options, view tab, uncheck hide extensions for known file types, then u will see the ion.83g or 8xg

I executed Ion on my calculator and it said that it was downloaded. It's all good. I tried to execute a game. It gave me the syntax error. I decided to try archiving it. It gave me the archive error. Wtf
