Introduction: How to Shoot a Hyper Lapse With Your DSLR

Hyperlapse Tutorial - How to shoot a long exposure hyper lapse with your DSLR

http://www.calthomson.com

I've been shooting time-lapse videos for about a year now and have only just discovered the art of hyper lapse. Last week I went out into Manchester, UK to shoot some long exposure hyper lapse videos and I was pleasantly surprised with the results. Whilst I'm definitely no expert I thought I'd share some tips and techniques in this short tutorial to encourage others to shoot hyper lapse.

A hyper lapse is a form of time-lapse photography where the position of the camera is changed between each exposure to create a tracking shot in time-lapse form.

I used my Canon 6D, Tamron 24-70mm 2.8 lens, a Manfrotto 501 Tripod and an intervalometer.

I chose to shoot RAW instead of Jpeg so that I could push the images further in Adobe Lightroom 5 which I then stabilised using Warp Stabiliser in Adobe After Effects CC. I think the effects are quite astounding for a first try.
