What you'll need: a rope (and something to tie it to)

  1. To start out, we'll bring the end of the rope over the object we're tying the knot around and bring it back towards you, leaving about a foot to foot and a half left
  2. Bring the end back over the same object again, but this time, overlapping the rope you started out with with the first loop
  3. Take the end of the rope now, thread it up through the two loops you've made in steps one and two so it's pointing towards the sky or away from you
  4. Now you're ready to tighten the knot- pull the end of the rope away from you, while pulling the other end towards you... you should have a tight clove hitch knot now!
