If you're like me and have fine hair, it can be hard to get body that lasts. Fine hair likes to hug the shape of the head. Luckily, with just a comb and a little hairspray, backcombing can do a lot to add some volume to any look.

Step 1: Grab a Horizontal Section at the Back Crown of Your Head.

Part your hair as you normally wear it. Then, grab a horizontal section of hair beginning at the back of your head. Gather section and comb out.

Step 2: Backcomb Section.

Using a comb, backcomb the hair in a downward motion toward the scalp.

Step 3: Fluff Up.

Spread out teased section evenly across perimeter of hair, detangling any visible knots.

Step 4: Repeat Moving Forward Across Head.

Continue with 1/2 inch sections of the hair until you reach the middle of the head.

Step 5: Comb Back an Unteased Layer.

Make sure your final layer that you flip back it not teased. Smooth over with your comb, ensuring there are no knots and finish with some light hairspray!

Thx so much for this I'm a huge fan in volume my hair I'm an "emo"

All this time I've just been saying "naa-naa-nah-noo-noo" to tease my hair. :)

Seriously, I worry that back combing would break off my already fine hair. Have you experienced that? By the way, your hair looks great, if it's fine, you at least have a lot of it Nice instructable.

I like the tip about spreading out the teased section! Very smart :)
