Step 1Learn about hacking and hackers

First and foremost, you must know what a hacker is before you can become one.

A hacker Does / Is :

have many computer related skills.
conduct in perfectly legal activities.
skilled in a few or many computer languages.
skilled in finding how to manipulate a file.

A hacker Doesn't / Isn't
manipulate files, programs, or webpages to attack someone's computer, login, or website.
steal codes, files, or programs illegally.
someone who conducts illegal activities.
use 1337 5p34k or TALK IN ALL CAPS.

Everything under the doesn't / isn't list can be used to describe crackers and script kiddies. (with the exception of the last item, thats just my personal rule)
