You could have added this link in the back because your bottom barrel now will never be completely full. The water will stop transferring when it hits the spigot on the bottom barrel leaving the top and back part of your bottom barrel empty. If you moved them to the back, you could fill up that extra 3-4 gallons of what would be air space.
