Introduction: How to Build a Raised Garden With USED BOWLING PINS. You've Never Seen This Before!

I have very poor soil in my yard, and I was getting frustrated with the lousy crops I was getting trying to grow veggies in it. So, I decided to do something about it! I built some raised gardens, and in just a week the results are amazing.

I build three raised gardens using a mixture of potting soil and Miracle Grow plant mix. Then the brain matter kicked in and I incorporated bowling pins into my design.

Search for USED BOWLING PINS on eBay, $18.50 + shipping.

Step 1:

What you need is 10 USED Bowling Pins, and sturdy metal rack (or simular), a childrens wading pool, three bags of potting soil and one half bag of Miracle Grow mix.

The Used Pins you can find on eBay for $18.50 + shipping, the metal rack you can scrounge for, the wading pool you can get for a buck at a garage sale. The potting soil and Miracle Grow come from your local home improvement store.

Oh Yeah, you need seeds too!

Step 2:

Start by locating a clean piece of land in your yard. With a hoe, scrape the weeds and last years garden away. Place the bowling pins in such a way that the rack will be supported.

Step 3:

Place your sturdy metal rack on the bowling pins, making sure it's fairly level.

Step 4:

Next add one used wading pool that you bought for a dollar at the local swap meet or garage sale.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you have punched enough holes in the bottom to allow for drainage.

Step 5:

Add 2-3 bags of potting soil to the pool. Level out with hoe and add a half bag of Miracle Grow. After you level this and compressed lightly, add a final bag of potting soil.

Step 6:

Add water to get everything settled down and plant your seeds.

Step 7:

This same combination of 3-4 bags of potting soil and a half bag of Miracle Grow was used on three other raised gardens in my yard. I used railroad ties to form a planting area, put cardboard directly on the dirt and filled with potting soil and Miracle Grow. These are the results after 7 and 14 days.
