This amazing little shocker is very tiny and can be hidden almost anywhere and give someone a surprise shock! It can operated by almost any 1.5v batteries!

So, on this instructable, I will show you how to make shockers that is smaller than a penny!

However, the biggest disadvantage of this shocker is, it is very hard to build, but it may be easy for experienced soldering iron user (like me) to build the shocker...

Please note that I am only 15 years old and I am not very good at grammar so if you find some parts of the instructable confusing, please let me know and I will try fix it.
And excuse me for some of those blurry and hazy picture. I cannot make them better...

New and improved version!

Build a World's Smallest Electronic Shocker! version 2.5

Disclaimer: This shocker can be dangerous, it gives out 450 shocking volts, so I am NOT responsible if you or anybody are injured or killed by the shocker, the responsibility is yours...

Step 1: Get the things!!

Picture of Get the things!!
Hardly anything is needed for this project but the tools...
  • "Boots" or "Polaroid" type disposable flash camera (You can use a Kodak camera, but they are harder to work with).
  • Some wires (I got mine from broken electronic devices).
  • Solder.

And the tools...
  • Soldering iron with a micro-tip.
  • Desolder pump (it makes everything so much easier, but you could probably get away with out one).
  • Flat-head screwdriver.
  • Wire strippers.
  • Wire cutters.
  • Pliers.
  • Tweezers or micro pliers (or your hand, but you are more than likely to get a solder burn).

Also, if you don't know how to solder, read this great instructable!

i improved,i dont know many volts because i test in my tester and my tester explode

How would I add a push button to this circuit? does this charge then shock you or continuously shock you?

I made this, and I got about 400v output, but then all of a sudden it stopped working and made a bit of smoke. I looked and it turns out the transformer is arcing over between pins 1 and 2.

Amazing shocker. I shocked myself eight times, made me go buzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Thanks a lot. Let's ZAP someone.

can I use a 6 pin transformer instead?

can I use the transformer from a bug zapper ?

note to author and people who dont want to slaughter a camera:

I think i found a possible subsitute transformer here:

lol, next time, read the datasheet, it is an audio transformer, not an voltage booster transformer. :)

Im glad you at least tried finding alternatives
as I recall, you have an 'ible on free samples. :)

hey, can anyone help? I made this, but as soon as I power it up, the transistir gets incredibly hot. so much so that the plastic melted. what have I done worng? I wired it uo exactly how it says, so is this irregular operation. and as far as I can feel, the output is non existent.

can you connect this to wire loop game ?? where are the line 1 line 2 terminals? please tell mee :)
a new take on the wire game. instead of an audible buzz, you would have an acual buzz. what I would do is put two plates on the handle so when the hand holds it, it completes one break in the circuit. then when the loop touches the wire maze, it completes the second bit

what part number is the transistor from the camera? is it NPN or PNP?

mine only gives 37 v

very good instructable i figured out the fault in mine and its working now

can i use a transformer from a mobile charger. please reply
dudes spirit x6 months ago

you could, however a mobile phone charger usually will only multiply the voltage by 10-25 times while the transformer he is using does 300 times.

good idea!!!

Hello! Could some help me figure it out how to make this shocker "less powerful" by discharging, lets say, 50V instead of the 400-450V? How do i do it? Should i simply increase the value of the resistor? Or should i use a different capacitor too? Thank you!

ce valoare are tranzistorul?
Hi Plasmania - I think there may be an error in your circuit diagram that may explain some of the complaints. Every component pinout I can find shows Transistor 'Base' to be the middle wire. (E-B-C, rather than E-C-B). If that is the case (and assuming the photos are correct) Transistor Base is connected to XFMR pin 1, and Collector is connected to XFMR pin 4 That also keeps the Base on the 1.5 V side of the circuit. I tried to upload a revised schematic, but that doesn't seem to be working...
these transformer has any value

Could make a good mouse zapper. If it's 250 volts @ 1.5 volts What would a 9 volt battery do? Do you know the approx current? Is the cap a discharging cap? The discharging cap could be reduced to prevent a burning ark? For use in Dogs (as in lets not mark our territory there anymore boys)?

Hello, I'm new to electronics and I was taking a look at your circuit trying to figure out how it works. If you don't mind I would like to know what is the purpose of the 220 ohm resistor. Thank you.
kbyrd21 year ago
I recently made 8 of these and put them in parallel to charge a capacitor bank. Now, when using one to charge a capacitor I require an RC Circuit. But, when I made the 8 in parallel no resistor was need to charge a capacitor. I was just hoping you could clear up how I could have built up the resistance to not require a resistor to charge.

Mine doesn't work, it gives 1.5V output. I'm using a 500 ohms resistor since the one that came in the camera was 1k
How fast does this shocker run at?
i have a small transformer with 5 pins and red tape around it, its about as big as my thumb, would i be able to use this?
thats all the info i have, no markings on it

can i build it with 6pins transformator? becuose i cant find one with 5pins..:(

would the transistor be a pnp or a npn?
Relate the pins of the symbol this the type of transistor:
1. The arrowed pin [Emitter] is always points at the "N" pin.
2. The pin that goes to the center of the bar is always the Base and is always opposite of what the other two are.
3. The non-arrowed pin is always the collector.

So the transistor in the schematic above has the arrow pointing out making the outside letter = N, so it has to be a NPN.
If the arrow pointed at the Base, then the Base would be N, and the ouside pins P,
thus it's a PNP.
Does that help?

what wattage is the resistor? 1/4, 1/8, 3, 5? i want to but the pieces but i dont know which one
going off of size alone i'd say 1/8. either 1/8 or 1/4 should work though, the only difference i know of between the two is size and heat dispersion.*
(assuming they're both 220ohm
