Step 4: STEP 4

%windir%\system32\oobe

go to this location from windows explorer, by copying it and pasting it there

Step 5: STEP 5

create a new folder named info and open it

create a new folder inside info named backgrounds

Step 6: ADDING THE PICTURE

rename the picture you want as the login wallpaper to backgroundDefault.jpg

place it inside the backgrounds folder that you created in the last step

THE PICTURE SHOULD BE LESS THAN 245KB IN SIZE

Step 7: AND YOU'RE DONE

just restart or put your computer to sleep or just lock it and you'll see the picture

if you want to remove it simply delete the picture from the backgrounds folder that you created and the default blue login wallpaper for win7 will be back.

thank you

thanks you

simple and effective. thanks for the tips :)
better than that use a software ..... one can search "windows 7 login screen changer"

a sample for such program http://tweaks.com/software/tweakslogon/

and above shown is the way but the program does the same so :P

NOTE : such utilities or applications must be started giving the admin privileges
by right clicking on application and selecting "run as administrator"
why would you install third party apps if you can do it in 5min or less by yourself without any apps
Because some people are scared of their registry, and some third party apps do more than just the background (such as ultimate windows tweaker). Granted, all of the things UWT does can be done manually in less than 5 min, but everything combined in one GUI makes it a whole lot easier. (Plus, it's a portable app... great for custom built computers.)
The registry key does not exist in my system. I presume it would only pre-exist on a system that is OEM. I have the full retail version of Windows installed, not an OEM system.

What is the full location of the registry key and are there any other keys that should go with it?

Thank you.
