For this tutorial you will need:

  1. An OBD adapter
    • either a generic ELM327 adapter, or Carista's adapter.
  2. An Android or iOS smartphone

Step 1: Download and Launch Carista App

Go to your app store and download Carista app (iOS) (Android), it is free.

Step 2: Insert You OBD Adapter Into the Car's OBD Port

Consult your owners manual, if you can't find it.

Step 3: Launch the App and Click on "Is My VW or Audi Affected?"

Step 4: Select You Location and Click on "Yes, Connect Now"

Step 5: There You Go

N.B. You can also enter the information manually without an adapter, however I highly suggest the automatic option as it is more precise.

<p>Or just use Volkswagen's website:</p><p><a href="http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/dieselinfo" rel="nofollow">http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/dieselinfo</a></p><p>or one of the other VW related brands:<br></p><p><a href="http://skoda-recallactions.skoda-auto.com/en-GB" rel="nofollow">http://skoda-recallactions.skoda-auto.com/en-GB</a></p><p><a href="http://www.audi.co.uk/content/audi/owners-area/emissions.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.audi.co.uk/content/audi/owners-area/emi...</a></p><p><a href="http://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/dieselinfo/pages/check-your-vehicle.aspx" rel="nofollow">http://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/dieselinfo/pages/che...</a></p><p>Those links are for UK, the search engine of your choice will help you if you live elsewhere. No smart phone, app, ODBC tester needed.</p><p></p>
<p>That's for sharing this info! This will help lots of people figure out if they've been affected. </p>
