How to clean a Mossberg 20 Gage Shotgun Pump

Here are the materials you will need to clean your gun; your shotgun, cloth, toothbrush, solvent, oil, various wood cleaning supplies, and a cleaning rod.

Step 1: Step 1- Make sure your gun is unloaded and your safety is on

The first and most important step is to make sure your gun is fully unloaded and your reciever is opened. Also your safety should be on! This assures your safety and the safety of others.

Step 2: Step 2- Disable Gun

The next step is to disable the gun so you can clean all the parts more efficiently. To do this you twist the knob connecting the barrel to the rest of the gun.

This is a picture of what the gun should look like once it's been disassembled.

Step 4: Step 3- Cleaning the Receiver

Spray a small amount of solvent onto a toothbrush and gently clean the reciever (this step can be repeated as many times as needed).

Step 5: Step 4- Cleaning the Barrel with solvent

Spray a small amount of solvent onto a cloth and the stick the cloth around the cleaning rod, then gently push and pull the cleaning rod in and out of the barrel until clean. You can repeat this step as many times as necessary.

Step 6: Step 5- Cleaning the barrel with oil

This step is similar to the last except you use oil instead of solvent. Put a small amount of oil on cloth and then wrap it around the cleaning rod and gently push and pull it in and out of the barrel. This step can be repeated as many times as needed.

Step 7: Step 6- Reassembling the gun

The next step is to reassemble the gun so you can clean the outside of the gun. To reassemble the gun you resrcew the knob connecting to the barrel.

Step 8: Step 7- Cleaning the metal on the outside of the gun with oil

The next step is to clean ONLY the outside metal of the gun. Put a small amount of oil on cloth and gently swipe it on the outer metal.

Step 9: Step 8- Cleaning the wood parts of the gun

The final step is to clean the wooden parts of the gun. You can use gun oil, solvent, or other wood products. Apply your choice of wood cleaner and put it on cloth and gently swipe it across the wood ONLY. Now you're finished!!!:)
