Darn. I can't find any "e-clips" and am not sure what they are. I seem to be unable to take the drum out of its cartridge. I see the gear mechanism on one end of the drum. I have removed all screws, hoping to be able to get to the drum roller, but nothing seems to come away. Anyone have any other photos of e-clips or sources I can check to solve this? Many thanks.

Horrible photos, i'd consider uploading them again, this time in focus.

I would love this instructable because i have a brother with a "bad drum" and i will try to work it out... but the first thing that hit me was that the pictures are a bit blurry...

Great instructable. But I think a warning about handling toner is appropriate. Toner is carcinogenic and is classified as hazardous waste in the US. It is an extremely fine powder that is easily airborne and will pass through vacuum cleaner filters. You definitely want to avoid inhaling it. Using gloves and a face mask while working with toner would be a good idea. Anything covered with loose toner should be handled and disposed of very carefully. Lest I incite the paranoid, I should also say that toner is harmless once it is fused to paper.

I think a painter's mask is probably more effective at stopping airborne toner than a paper vacuum cleaner bag and would offer a good level of protection. Not perfect, but better than nothing. An alternative would be to work with the cartridge inside a large clear plastic bag. Everyone needs to decide what work environment they feel comfortable with. I just wanted to provide information so people can decide for themselves.
