How to Convert a Plastic Spoon Into a Plastic Fork (spork)

So, it's a classic problem (or maybe I'm the only idiot who does this), you've brought a salad to work but forgotten to pack a fork. You look around the office and all you can find are some spoons people use for stirring their coffee. I don't know about you, but I have a hard time picking up a pile of spinach on the bowl of a spoon. Well, we can fix that. It isn't magic so I hope that isn't what you were expecting. At best, I hope you'll get an idea you can use if you ever find yourself in a desperate situation!

Step 1: Materials

Hopefully you at least have a plastic spoon laying around, I'd hate to try to rig something up using paperclips and thumbtacks!
What you need:
1x plastic spoon
1x pair of scissors, pocket knife, box cutter, etc.

Step 2: Make Your Cuts

Ok, starting at the middle of the front of the spoon bowl, make an angled cut back and toward one of the outside edges. Make a second cut from the middle going back and toward the other outside edge. You'll have a v-shaped cut at this point. Now you'll want to cut out the notches. Move over about a 3/8 of an inch from your original cut and make a cut that connects that side to the inside of the original cut for that side. The piece that you remove should be shaped kind of like a scalene triangle. Do the same thing for the other side. I made my cuts to a depth of about 1/3 of the depth of the spoon bowl. You can make yours deeper if that is your preference. Remember: the longer "tines" of your spork, the less rigid they will be.
