How to divine for water

Step 2Test your divining ability

1) place the jar 10 feet in front of you
2)Hold the coat hanger in your prefered hand (right hand if you write with your right) and having it pointing directly in front of you. It should be able to swing freely, it must be horizontal. Try putting it in a bic pen (sans pen ink refill bit)
3)Walk slowly towards the jar

The coat hanger should swing around when you go over the jar.

Update: A little research later..."According to dowsers who use divining rods, the choice of brass allows the rod to attune to the magnetic fields emanated by the target without the earth's EM field interfering, as would be the case with a metal such as steel. The end of the rod to be held by the dowser is often encased in a material that provides a constant electrical impedance, to prevent the dowser's own conductivity from interfering with the dowsing process."

From what I've seen posted, I think that Divining is best at detecting moving water. I'm not 100% certain of it, but that's what the posts on the intro page seem to suggest.
