Introduction: How to Draw Anime

This is my way to draw anime.

I am only going to shew you how to draw one character but using some of my techniques you should be able to make as much as you want.

Step 1: Step 1:

Draw a cube with the ratios about 1 high and 3/4 wide.

You can change this depending on your character

Step 2: Step 2:

Draw a cross on the side of the box.

Step 3: Step 3:

Evenly split the front face into 2 columns and 3 rows.

Step 4: Step 4:

Rub out the center line in the botem third and draw a triangle

Step 5: Step 5:

draw a line connecting the bottom and far right sections of the X.

Step 6: Step 6:

Draw a line connecting the bottom of the triangle to the middle of the far verticle.

Step 7: Step 7:

Draw a slight curve in the box on the bottom right.

Step 8: Step 8:

Draw a circle which should cover the top 2/3 of the box

Step 9: Step 9:

Add a ear on the / bit of the X about halfway up.

Step 10: Step 10:

Using a rubber, rub out the construction lines and you should hopefully be left with this.

Then smooth it a bit.

Step 11: Step 11:

Draw a center line down the middle.

This shouldn't be straight as faces are not 2 dimensional. If you run your finger down the middle of any face it comes out at your eyebrows then goes in for your eyes and back out for the nose and your chin and lip go back in.

A tip I use is to shape it between the left and right side.

Step 12: Step 12:

Draw two almost vertical lines.

One should be just inside the curve on the off side of the face.

The other should be near where the face turns and becomes the side of the head.

Step 13: Step 13:

The next two lines take use of the center line.

Make them pointing a bit in the other direction then in the last step so we get them Anime sort of eyes.

The right one should be a bit further away from the center line due to perspective blah blah blah......

Also make sure the far eye is a lot shorter than the close eye.

Step 14: Step 14:

Place the nose about a third up the face.

Most Anime noses are made from just two curved lines.

Step 15: Step 15:

Now fill in the detail around the ear.

Step 16: Step 16:

Draw two lines to make up the mouth.

The first top line is the middle of the lips and starts just a tiny bit left to the center line and is about a 1/4 up the face.

The second line is underneath it and should be shorter.

Step 17: Step 17:

Connect up the eye lines to make rectangleish shapes.

Step 18: Step 18:

Make the iris on the right by creating a big circle.

The moves depending on where the character is looking.

Step 19: Step 19:

Create the left iris by only adding half of a circle or how much would expose depending on where the character is looking.

Step 20: Step 20:

Shade in the big circles in lightly.

Then form smaller circles on the inside of them and shade in dark, this will be the pupil.

Then rub out two circles from the pupil to form reflections.

Step 21: Step 21:

Rub out the lines at the side of the eyes and improve the top and bottom ones to make it more like an eye.

Step 22: Step 22:

Rub out the center line.

Step 23: Step 23:

Add eyebrows.

To me eyebrows are the biggest chance off adding emotion so play around with them.
