Step 1: Step One:

In order to properly be careless while working it is recommended that you start working while very tired. To be as efficiently careless as you can be it is recommended that you both tire out your mind and your body. Sleep deprivation is usually the best way to achieve this state in both mind and body.

If above the appropriate age, drinking some alcohol or partaking in recreational drug use before step 4 may help with the pain in step 6, however, it may blur the line between step 4 and step 5 sufficient enough that come step 7, all memory of this instructable may be lost and may have to be repeated..

This is certainly another way to go about finger divot rendering.

I was trying to hastily make a little mount for a flashlight because my dashboard lights had burned out. All in all it was a bad move.

about 7 month ago i cut the end of 2 of my fingers with a bike's disc brake . i only bled for about 2 hours non-stop ... and i only spent 12 hours in the hospital!
i live in france so the social security system took all the fees but i guess it must have cost a lot...

As a child I once slipped with the soldering iron and plunged the hot tip into my finger . hot knife, butter e.t.c...

If this had some nicer pictures I'd probably have featured it... I'm pretty amused, sorry to hear about the minor issue of a hole in your thumb...
JakeTobak in reply to killerjackalopeMay 26, 2009. 10:50 AM
Not that I really WANT to see clearer pictures, but check your camera for a macro mode.
killerjackalope in reply to JakeTobakMay 27, 2009. 3:12 AM
I'm not the author - Probably should have mentioned macro though...
JakeTobak in reply to killerjackalopeMay 27, 2009. 5:22 AM
Yah, I was gonna make it a seperate post but you already touched on the subject so I put it as a reply to yours and forgot to change the pronouns :P
killerjackalope in reply to JakeTobakMay 27, 2009. 6:29 AM

lemonie in reply to JakeTobakMay 26, 2009. 12:21 PM

Everyone needs to remember that if it can cut hardwood, it can cut flesh and bone. Never get distracted when using a power tool, or allow something to distract you. Keep dogs, cats, and children too young to learn tool respect out of the workshop.

Its been a few weeks now since the injury and i have yet to regain the sense of touch on most of the tip of my thumb. At the hospital my medial nerve was numbed completely before a piece of tissue was removed; when it was snipped away it was an unforgettable surge of pain through my body. Ah the lessons we learn!

Okay, maybe a fireball in the face and an accidental tattoo aren't the worst things I could do to myself... (oh yeah, don't forget the slingshot dart through the end of my thumb)

A number of years ago I put a 1/8 inch bit through my thumbnail and out the fleshy side of my thumb. I was using a dull bit and pushing too hard on it. The bit broke and went for my thumb, which was holding down a piece of sheet metal close to the intended hole.

Ouch. Any word on whether you did permanent damage to nerves and blood vessels in your thumb?
