Halo 2 was a game that, for many, was an integral part to their younger years. My friends and I had a lot of fun just playing the multiplayer and campaign, but whenever that got old, we worked on discovering secrets within the game. Now, the ability to find skulls in this game has been documented better in other sources. I've been surprised, however, to note that a detailed set of instructions on how to get out of campaign maps does not exist. As such, I've decided to set out to describe two of the most interesting places to explore when outside the maps. For the sake of simplicity I have chosen methods that do not require the "grenade jump" used in other levels to reach higher locals. (This method basically entails throwing a frag grenade at your feet and jumping right before it explodes, which gives you a boost of a few feet to reach places normally out of reach.)
The two levels that will be used in these instructions are Cairo Station and Delta Halo. Hopefully, after seeing these methods you will know what to look for in other maps to find your way outside of them.
After activating the bridge farther in the level and destroying the wraths, make sure you have a ghost. Boost up the hill that is directly to the left of the bridge on the far side. There is a small place where the hill is just right and you can get on top of the level, and since you have a ghost, traveling is much easier.
Also: You can do something similar in quarantine zone, or use the grenade trick to blast yourself out. (Get a warthog on coop, have one person on the turret, kill the other person, and make it so you can shoot and kill them instantly when they respawn. They will drop tons of plasma grenades which, when detonated by throwing a grenade on top of them, will send the warthog (with you in it) flying out of the level.)
An alternative method is to do get one of the pelicans or phantoms to crash (yes, they can crash). They will start spinning around the level and when you walk up to them, you can flip them like a regular vehicle. If you place yourself right, flipping them will send you flying. This also works in outskirts and metropolis.
In Metropolis, if you are very fast, you can jump on top of the tank that the pelican delivers (that's later blown up by the scarab) and jump into the pelican. Hold X to get in a seat. The pelican will fly off with you in it and will crash somewhere in the level.
Then there's the scarab-gun tunnel banshee trick, but that's more complicated.
Outskirts is easy to get out of. At the very beginning, go through the door, jump on top of one of the light fixtures in that hallway, then crouch-jump on top of the ledge just above it. This is also how you get the blind skull.
I've gotten out of every halo 2 level, single player and multi-player, except backwash and the newest map pack. Ahh...good memories. : )
Halo 2 is the greatest game ever played.
