THIS IS NOT BATTLE BOTS!!

FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is a unique varsity sport of the mind designed to help high-school-aged young people discover how interesting and rewarding the like of engineers and researchers can be.

The FIRST Robotics Competition challenges teams of young people and their mentors to solve a common problem in a six-week time-frame using a standard "kit of parts" and a common set of rules. Teams build robots from the parts and enter them in competitions. There are over $9 million in schollarship opportunities available to accomplished team members from nationally acclaimed academic associations and universities.

FIRST redefines winning for these students because they are rewarded for excellence in design, demonstrated team spirit, gracious professionalism and maturity, and the ability to overcome obstacles. Scoring the most points is a secondary goal. Winning means building partnerships that last.

I'm a mentor for FRC Team 1557 and FTC 5012. Our program is still going strong and we are always looking for new members. We compete in FIRST robotics competitions. We also participate in community outreach programs on a regular basis.

One of the biggest misconceptions about robotics is that you have to be super smart and interested in robotics or computers to be a member. Fact is, our mentors and students work with new members to show them how the program works. We need team members that are interested in areas such as website design, computer graphics, marketing, creative writing, social media, videography, public relations, leadership, project management, computer programming, engineering, electrical wiring, and mechanics.

The environment of FIRST Robotics is like no other extra curricular activity or sport. You learn through hands-on experience. You also get to work in a setting that is similar to corporate america. You work with deadlines and have to depend on team mates to complete a challenge so you can compete against other teams.

If you are a high school student living in Lake County, Florida and think you have what it takes to be a member of our team, we invite you to join our FIRST Robotics team.

Team 3492 Robogens. We had extremely aggressive defense because if our main driver being a senior football player. This got us picked in the #1 seeding alliance in Pittsburgh and our alliance went on to win the finals. Worlds was amazing, especially considering that we were a rookie team.

Hey I'm from team 1289, the GearHeadz (yes i know there are a few other teams called gearheads but i think, I'm not sure, we are the only one that spells it with a "z" at the end) in Lawrence, MA. You should try to check your spelling in this instructable. But overall its a good instructable.

No no no, you're doing it wrong!

Robotics team! TEAM! Not club, TEAM! That makes your club like x100 cooler (and productive... Maybe).
May 15, 2009. 8:19 PMJZ Price says:
im saying that FIRST (made of 1000+ robotics teams) is better than "robotics club"
May 16, 2009. 10:49 PMrobotguy4 says:
Oh... Yeah, you're right. I thought your "club" needed a quick rebranding... Clubs require pizza. Teams require commitment AND Pizza.
