Intro: When you wake up on the weekend and you want a fun to make, healthy breakfast try making the Sweet Fruit Crepes. Many fruits that you can cut up and put into Crepes, my favourites are strawberries and bananas. I also enjoy adding peanut butter or Nutella, you can do the same!
Ingredients Needed: -1 cup of All-Purpose Flour
-1 tablespoon of brown sugar
-1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 2 large eggs
-3/4 cups of milk
- 1/2 cup of water
- 3 tablespoons of melted butter (salted)
Materials Needed: - A sharp knife
- Medium size mixing bowl
- Measuring Spoons
- Measuring Cup
- A Non-Stick Frying Pan
- A ladle
- Cutting Board
- A plate to serve your crepe on
Step 1: Creating Batter
In a medium-size mixing bowl add 1 cup of All-Purpose Flour, 1 table spoon of brown sugar, and 1/4 of a teaspoon of salt. (Dry Ingredients)
Then stir all dry ingredients well with the whisk.
After that, crack 2 eggs into the same bowl that contains the dry ingredients. As well add the rest of the wet ingredients, 3/4 cups of milk, 1/2 cups of water and 3 tablespoons of melted salted butter.
Next, combine all of the ingredients with the same whisk in the bowl. The consistency of the crepe batter shouldn't be too liquidy but shouldn't be too thick and to get your bowl out of the way place it next to the stove top.
Step 5: Cutting Up Fruit
Then, get a cutting board out on place it on your counter and get up your choice of fruit(s). I prefer only a couple fruits, I like strawberries and bananas. I would suggest slicing each fruit thinly. Then place the cutting board containing the fruit on it beside the stove top.
Step 6: Getting Prepared for Cooking
Next, make sure your frying pan is on top of the element. If your frying pan is NOT a non-stick frying pan than place about a1/2 of a tablespoon if butter on the surface of the frying pan. But if you have a non-stick frying pan then you do not need to add the extra butter.
Step 7: Heating Up the Frying Pan
When you are ready, turn on your element to medium-high and if you need to add 1/2 a tablespoon of butter.
Step 8: Adding Batter to Pan
You will have to wait for the pan to heat up. After about one minute you can now scoop out one ladle full of batter and slowly pour it into the centre of the frying pan. Make sure when the crepe batter settles it covers the circumference of the frying pan.
After that, when the edges of the crepe becomes somewhat golden brown and begin to curl up, with you spatula gently go around and a little under the crepe.
Step 10: Ready to Flip Your Crepe
The bottom of your crepe shouldn't be to light when you flip it but shouldn't be burnt.
Step 11: Flipping Your Crepe
When you think that your crepe is ready to flip, slowly flip it with your spatula. But make sure get under the crepe and flip slowly.
Step 12: Adding Toppings
Then right away you want to add your peanut butter or Nutella if you would like and your sliced fruit. In this case I am using peanut butter, strawberries and bananas. So with a butter knife spread one scoop of peanut butter in the centre of the crepe and spread it vertically up and down your crepe.
Next, turn off your element and carefully remove your partly finished crepe off the pan and place it onto a plate.
Finally, add your sliced fruit to your crepe, in this case strawberries and bananas onto the peanut butter. Fold the two sides of the crepe inwards, one on top of the other and then enjoy!
Step 15: Conclusion
If you have followed these steps correctly, you should have a once warm Sweet Fruit Crepe in front of you and ready to eat! If you didn't spread peanut butter or Nutella in your crepe I suggest then eating it with syrup, peanut butter or Nutella beside it:) I hope you now enjoy your Sweet Fruit Crepe.
