How to Make a 3D Printed Bender Keychain!

Hello! Welcome to my 3D printed bender keychain tutorial.

I made this part in solidworks but you can make it in any CAD software.

I'm not doing teeth in this tutorial.

Step 1: Sketching

The first thing that you want to do is to make a sketch and revolve it.

You can do a sketch that looks like mine or you can  do your own.

Basically you want to make a sketch that looks like half of benders head. You don't have to make it look exactly like mine, just make it to your liking.

**YOU DO NOT WANT TO INCLUDE THE ANTENNA THAT WILL MESS UP THE PRINT** 

Step 2: Revolving

Now you want to revolve that sketch so it will look something like it does in my picture.

Step 3: Making the Visor

Now you want to make the visor this part is really easy, just make a sketch like it is in mine, and extrude it. You might have to make a new plane.

Step 4: Eyes

Now you want to make two circles inside the visor and extrude then so they look like cylinders.

After you have done that you want to fillet them so they look like his actual eyes. Just keep messing with the radius of the fillet to get to somewhere of your liking.

Step 5: Mouth

Now we have to make the mouth. This part was kind of tricky at first but once i got it, it worked, I had trouble with this part because i was thinking about a totally different way of doing this.

We need to make a copy of the front plane (by using reference geometry and selecting plane.) and move it forward towards the eyes. (Look at the picture if you need help.)

Now we need to sketch a rectangle on that plane.

You need to fillet the corners of that rectangle to 0.17 inches. it should look something like it does in one of the pictures.

Now we need to cut-extrude that rectangle. Select through all, then you should be done with the mouth!

Step 6: Keychain

On this part you will need to make a circle, and extrude it anywhere you want. I made mine near the antenna. Just make it big enough for a keychain.

Step 7: Antenna

This part is quite easy. All you need to do is make a new plane of the top plane, make it near the top bender and sketch a circle on it.

Now you're finished!

What did I learn?

I learned how to use a makerbot, I also learned how to find flaws in my own designs and how to fix them.

Step 9: Old 3D Printed Model

This was my first 3D printed model of the first design of bender that i made. It looks really bad printed out, but i fixed my design flaws in this instructable and I will hopefully get to print it out again soon.


I have not printed out the model that i made on this instructable yet but hopefully i will get to soon.
