Hi guys today I will show you how to make a PVC wakizashi. A wakizashi is a short katana and if you want to make katana just make it a little longer. So let's get started.

Step 1: Stuff You Need.

1. One two foot section of 1/2 inch PVC.

2. A heat gun.

3. Two flat objects like 2x4.

4. Pot holders if you want.

5. A hacksaw.

6. And finally some tinfoil. Optional silver spray paint, black electrical tape and a 1/2" PVC cap.

Step 2: The Blade.

Take the PVC cut it to two feet and mark it at seven inches from the bottom that will be the handle. Heat your PVC over tinfoil and make sure the foil is as long as the blade. Make sure not to keep the heat gun in the same spot to long otherwise it will burn the blade. Heat evenly until it like a pool noodle. Then, put the blade between your two flat objects and squish it and make sure your handle is sticking out. Well flatting bend the blade a little so it curves. Another option is to use vice like this. After the blade has been flattened, use a hacksaw to cut the tip.

Step 3: Painting and Finishing.

Paint the blade and end cap silver. And your done if you have any questions please feel free to ask. And please vote. Thanks.

I beleive heating PVC pipe past a certain temp releases chlorine gas. If inhaled this can kill you or leave you needing a oxygen tank for the rest of your life. It only takes a little inhalation..... Not worth it in my opinion.

So do this in a well ventilated area. Sometimes safety is overrated. I've been around burning pvc, all the time, and never experienced symptoms of chlorine gas i.e. wheezing coughing or chest tightness. Research things before shooting people down. Nice mini katana, keep it up author

Since when is safety OVERRATED when you have all ages viewing these websites? Im glad that since you are constantly near burning PVC (for whatever reason) that you are OK. However the fact is that when PVC is heated past a certain point it DOES create Chlorinated gas and other carcinogens.

I did research it (http://www.madsci.org/posts/archives/2000-06/96160...)

The only reason i mentioned it was the author does not acknowledge that the fumes may be harmful. Im not trying to start a comment war with anyone or "shoot anyone down" just trying to make sure people are careful. I use my lungs everyday, dont you?

Will do
I've been making PVC props for a while and nothing has happened

I don't see a mention of the hand guard.

I will put it in

Thanks :)

really nice sword never thought of using p.v.c
