How to make a "Rat Tail"

Of course, it's not an actual rat tail. That's just the name of this extremely painful and easy to make towel whip.

Step 1 The things you will need

All you need is a towel and a flat surface. Thin, wet towels work best!

I am going to use blue medical towels for this.  My dad, a friend whose wife worked with my mom, and I went to Spruce Knob (highest point here in West Virginia) to camp with a friend, who has a trout fry every year, refuses to buy the fish so he can have more fun, and works with my mom (there both nurses), and he gave me a welt on my leg for missing a hit on HIS line with one.

Ah, memories. Once summer I went to "gymnastics camp", and the guys decided they were going to have rat-tail battles in the off-time. It was pretty ferocious; we sometimes determined winners by counting the welts, till the camp leaders put a stop to things for fear of serious injuries (all you have to do is have your face in the wrong place at the wrong time.) Being the non-competitive technician that I am, I was content to work on technical details (coming up with something very similar to yours) and technique, taking out my meager aggressions by mangling soda cans (soda cans were steel in those days, mind you...) For maximum pain, after you dip the end in water, dip it in sand, too. With a little practice, you can get the tip to create a nice sonic boom, just like a whip...

when you fold it, fold the opposite corner (bottom left)up, then roll it. hold onto the thicker part of the tail and 'crack!'

ouch! this must be a south thing. I've never heard of this... I have been smacked a with just whipping a whole towel, and i could never do it, but i think i could do this one... my bf better watch out!!! Good job!

its not necessarily a "southern thing" I did this when I lived in Canada, and also in PA
