Introduction: How to Make a Tree Pendant

About: I'm a stay at home mom of two gorgeous little girls! I love crafts and making just about anything. I love to find stuff I really like and make it myself (with my own twist of course!)

What you will need:

Wire (20 gauge and 26 gauge)
Wire cutters
Round nose pliers
Small beads
Something to wrap the wire around that is about the size you want your pendant to be
(I used the cardboard tube pictured here)

Begin by wrapping the 20g wire around your tube a couple of times so you get a good even circle.

Cut the wire circle with about an inch overlap

Bend one end straight up (this will become your bail or the part you feed the chain of your necklace through)

Wrap the other end around the straight piece and make sure it is nice and even so that the end is not poking out.

Take your round nose pliers and create a loop with the part of wire still sticking up to create your bail

You have now created the base of your pendant.

Step 1: Make the Base of the Pendant

After you you have created your circle with the tube (or what ever you have chosen to use)

Step 2: Creating Your Tree

Cut about 3 pieces of the 20g wire and 6 pieces of the 26g wire about twice as long as the diameter of the circle.

Take all the strips of wire and twist them together in a small section in the middle.

Separate your roots and branches:
Choose one end to be the bottom of the tree and separate the wire into 3 groups for the roots and then separate ALL the pieces of wire at the top.
Attache your roots to the bottom of the circle piece by bending the wire around the circle, cut the excess and make sure the ends are flush to the circle.
Now load your branch wires with beads and begin bending each piece around the circle. Feel free to weave the branch wires through each other to get the desired effect with your beads.
After securing each branch wire trim excess and again make sure your pieces are flush.

Now string it to a chain and there you go!

Step 3: Add a Little Color

Now that you have your roots attached and your branches separated...

Load your branch wires with beads and begin bending each piece around the circle.

Feel free to weave the branch wires through each other to get the desired effect with your beads.

I like to wrap as much of the excess wire around the top to make sure it is secure and it looks even.

After securing each branch wire trim excess and again make sure your pieces are flush.

Now string it to a chain and there you go!
