Step 2: The Ingredients That Are Needed

Gather all the ingredients that is needed.
The berry filling:
-2 lbs of fresh berries
-1 oz of butter
-3 oz of sugar
-2 oz of water
-1 oz of cornstarch
-3.5 oz of sugar
-1/5 tsp of salt
-2 tsp lemon juice
-.25 oz butter

The crust:
-1lb 4oz of pastry flour
-14 oz of shortening
-6 oz of cold water
-.4 oz of salt
-1 oz of sugar
I tried this recipe with saskatoons and raspberries. I also brushed a little bit of corn syrup mixed with hot water over the pie during the last few minutes. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm this is a really good recipe. I am a beginner and this has really encouraged me to try more. Thanks
Damn these reveresed Southern Hemisphere (better than the nothern one!) seasons! The moment I find a decent pie recipe, ALL the strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, blackberries, blueberries, red currants, white currents, black currants and pretty much any other berry in existence ISN'T IN EXISTENCE!!! Grrr...

I miss my great-grandma :( she made the best pies ever.
I used to work at a bakery and we made a pie like this. We used tapioca (the thickener, not the pudding) instead of corn starch. It bakes clear and leaves no flavor like cornstarch can. For 6 cups of fruit we used 3 tablespoons of tapioca. You can usually find it in any grocery store. This is the best pie EVER!!!!!
