Introduction: How to Make a Birdhouse

About: Hey, my name is Jason. A little bit about myself is that well, I love photography, cooking/baking, creating, etc. About myself physically, I'm a male, I'm 5'7", Brunet. Personality wise, I'm usually…

this is an easy way how to make a birdhouse with very little expenses.

Step 1: Materials

Gourd
Spray paint / house paint
mod-podge / sealant
cutting drill bit (Size varies (pic if you don't know what i am talking about))
(optional 1/4inch dowel & 1/4inch drill bit)

Step 2: Step 1

Decide what bird you are creating this house for.... (size chart down below & dont make for barn owls)

Step 3: Step 2

After dicision is made, find a brill bit the desired size. When cutting your hole, make sure it is about 2-3 inches from the bottom.

Step 4: Step 3

take a long fork or screwdriver and jam it into your gourd all over to loosen innards make sure not to puncture the other side! be careful!. every few seconds shake out progress (takes about 1-5 mins.)

Step 5: Step 4

Hang with a string from somewhere that will get smelly and could get dirty! once hung start painting!

Step 6: Step 5

After you are satisfied with your work, its time to seal! use polyurethane / mod-podge or any sealant you have. I didn't seal mine because my mom wanted it inside.

Step 7: Step 6

Once dry again, trill a 1/4inch hole about 1/2inch under entrance hole. Cut dowel about 2-3inches long and glue into whole (optional: paint dowel like i did) if it goes outside make sure to seal that too! if the dowel doesn't fit get a little bit bigger one or smaller dowle, there are many sizes!
