Introduction: How to Make a Phone Tap.

In the Instructable i will show you how to make 2 different phone taps that can be used on any house phone.
The amplifiers used in this instructable can be taken from old Wall outlet chargers. The kind you charge a phone with.
BTW if i can ill get a better camera instead of taking picks with an ipod and make a phone tap that clips onto the wire and pins connect to the wires and it will have an internal recording module with a micro SD card slot and run off the power of the Phone line itself. I have everything set up already. i just need the module.

Step 1: Tools

This is a fairly simple yet effective project so the only needed tools are:
Soldering iron
Wire
Solder
And some cutting tools

Step 2: Phone Tap Number 1

For this phone tap you will need a 2 wire DSL filter or similar device, A 3.5 audio jack. a recording device, and some wire.

Step 3: Opening the Case

Open the case to you DSL filter. Be careful not to break it because opening these little guys is hard if you dont have better tools.

Step 4: Separate the Guts of the Filter From the Casing

Step 5: Remove the Components to Make Room for Your Own.

It got burnt because i dont have a Desoldering tool so i just used a torch =P

Step 6: Solder the Leads Together So It Will Actually Connect to the Phone Line

Connect the leads together with wire so the phone will work in the first place =P

Step 7: Adding Your Amplifier

Solder in the output to the wires so the signal is boosted instead of weakened.

Step 8: Add the Audio Jack So You Can Listen In

i just drilled a hole in the side to hook my recorder up to

Step 9: Put It Together and Listen In!

Step 10: Phone Tap Number 2 (easier)

This phone tap is for people who cant make the first one and this one is a little easier.

Step 11: Materials Needed

For this you will need a phone jack splitter an amplifier a 3.5 mm audi jack and a recording device. Simply solder the middle wires from a phone cord to the input of the amplifier and the audio jack to the other end plug the splitter into the jack then plug the real phone cord and yours into it and record!
