With this guide I will explain how to build a wheel for playing the races on your phone.
I have studied the following procedures, as always, to be realized by all.

Bequired, drill, jigsaw, hot glue, vinyl glue, file, rasp, sandpaper, plus the usual tools.

A piece of plywood from 300x300x15 mm.
A piece of plywood from 300x300x10 mm.
A piece of plywood or plastic from 3 mm thick.
2 elastic.
Two pieces of wood like chopsticks.
Various coating and finishes.

Step 1:

Draw the design on the 15 mm plywood and then place your phone in the middle, draw the shape taking into account the thickness of the coating of the housing.
In my case the drawing was done for the Galaxy S, so if you have a different phone, you have to adapt the design to fit.

Step 2:

2 ° Cut out the whole shape of the steering wheel. Place the template on the plywood cut to 10 mm, and copy the profile except the home phone.
Now cut the wheel also of 10 mm.

Step 3:

3 ° Sand good for the phone housing with sandpaper. At this point you must glue the two steering wheels with white glue (PVA glue). With clamps block them or if you have not planted two pegs and then put us on a nice weight. (Nails are used to move does not make the two shapes).

Step 4:

4 ° While the glue dries, prepare the two brackets. I used a piece of poroflex, but you can also use plywood, plexiglass, lexan, etc. The important thing is that it is 3 mm thick.
Draw the two brackets and cut, then drill the holes 6 mm.
For a aesthetic issue only I glued a piece of black rubber mat.

Step 5:

Hour Cut two pieces of wood about 50 mm long obtained from large skewers or even better by chopsticks.

Step 6:

6 ° If the glue is well dried, you have to to level the two parts glued together to obtain a single profile. To do this you must use rasps, files and sandpaper, so doing you will get a steering wheel that looks like a piece of cut and eliminate defects.

Step 7:

Now with patience, you should encourage all the profile using files and sandpaper, so you get a wheel more ergonomic and round.

Step 8:

8 ° Detect the distance to the speaker of your phone, bring it on the bottom of the 'central housing and executed a bore of 15 mm. This is necessary to let out the sound. Also practiced the 4 holes of 6 mm for the brackets.

Step 9:

9 ° Now you can paint the wheel. If you do, you must first fill and polish, then apply one coat of sealer and polish it, then give the first coat of paint, polish it with fine sandpaper and then give the final coat of paint.

Step 10:

10 ° At this point you have to coat the housing to avoid damaging your precious phone.
Glued to a strip of material thin and soft on the edges. I used imitation chamois taking part to the phone, but you can use other materials.

Step 11:

11 ° Cut the cardboard to adjust the seat depth of the phone to ensure that once entered the phone, it protrudes 1 to 2 mm.

Step 12:

12 ° Coat the bottom with the same sidewall material, glued with vinyl glue.

Step 13:

13 ° At this point we have to give a sporty at the wheel, I used the black paracord, but can be anything you want, soft rubber, duct tape, and if you are good you can cover it in leather.
Using the paracord you have to wrap it often turns to stop them glued. Look at the pictures to get an idea of how to run it.

Step 14:

14 ° Mounting brackets: Insert the elastic through the two holes of the bracket, threaded holes in a piece of rope that you insert into the holes of the wheel. Now pull the strings to tighten the strap and stop it by inserting the piece of stick. Now you can pull the rope.

Step 15:

At this point your wheel is terminated. I entered the wood screws with a big head to give a final touch at the wheel.

Step 16:

Done!, Now you can enter the phone simply by lifting the brackets.

As you can see by inverting the wheel, the phone stays firmly in its slot.
