Introduction: How to Make an Igloo or Tunnel Through Snow

About: I like to make stuff

This is not going to look like an igloo in movies or other things. It will look like a pile of snow with a whole in it, unless you smooth it. It will still work though, and tunnels are very good for moving through an expansive snow fort.

Step 1: Materials

- Snow (of course)
- Shovel
- Beach shovels work great (The short , pointed ones)

Step 2: Start of Igloo

First pile snow. (shovel sidewalk or driveway, piles snow and makes your parents happy, everybody wins!) Then, start hollowing it out. (first, pat it down) Lie on your back with the beach shovel and use the side to slice off layers of snow on the cieling and sides till it is rounded but the walls are not too thin.

Step 3: Finish Igloo

Get out and smooth the sides until round. Igloos finished!

Step 4: Start Tunnel

First, start digging on either side. Then push long pole through to the other side. This will guide you.

Step 5: Finish Tunnel

Keep digging with both shovels until you reach other side. Then widen it. Tunnel done!
Snow fort tip: If your yard is on a hill, you can make an outside trench and wall like the plan below.
