How to make an arduino IR link

Now that you have finished it, upload the demo sketch called 'Blink' and hopefully the LED on the breadboard should be blinking. If it is................congratulations, if not go to troubleshooting.
The optimal range is about 1 inch and less (<2.5 cm) To boost this put in a transistor and more IR LED's together.

Troubleshooting
1. Q = No blinky blink A = Make sure the IR emitter and detector are close enough together
2. Q = No blink even when I did the above A = Did you follow my instructions correctly, if not, go to step 1.

check everything thouroughly and just upload the blink code from the arduino IDE

Any chance of a circuit diagram or cleared breadboard photos?

Im trying to get my head around photodiodes and it would really help!
