How to make real computer games. fun and only take about an hour

 by dean-101

Step 10: APRIL FOOLS PART contest (THIS BIT IS ONLY OPTIONAL TO SCARE PEOPLE THAT ARE PLAYING THE GAME)

untitled.bmp
If you want to scare(funny more than scary) people with this game you could add in a scary voice and image to appear when the score is equal to 30 by right clicking on the ball object and adding a new event called step and in it copy what i have in my print screen.
Next get a scream sound and add it to the sounds folder and get another scary image sprite.
make a new object and chose the scary image sprite and add and event called create and in that use the "play sound" command and chose the scary sound.

RESULTS
this means when the game score is 30 a scary image will appear and scream. it is more funny than scary.

Hey my friends and I are going to make a game that's like a MMO except one player... I don't know how else to describe it other than like Poke'mon. Except really different. Could you please email me via ebag123@gmail.com on this? Thanks.

right now im making a game somewhat like pokemon using a program called Scratch (scratch.mit.edu) very easy, made for kids (like me, lol :P) by MIT (Masechusets, er however u spell it Intstitute of Technlogy or something :) ) very fun and easy.

:P Yeah... My friend and I are having some trouble with this... Anyone know of a program we can mess around in? Flash might work... we're working in it right now, but its not going too well...

You could use Adventure Game Studio (AGS). It requires learning a scripting language, but if you really want to make games you should be doing that anyways. It's really easy to learn.

so a single player mmo... wounds like an RPG. learn your self some knowledge.
dungeon runner in reply to gernigMay 2, 2010. 2:07 PM
Maybe he meant a sandbox type game. That might be considered "an MMO only single-player". Or maybe he just didn't know what an RPG was. Learn yourself some politeness (and perhaps some punctuation).

How do you publish and play it?
AlternateLives in reply to StarWarsSteampunkerJul 20, 2009. 3:58 PM
I have Game Maker 7, but I'm sure this is similar. There should be a button on the toolbar which caption reads something to the effect of 'export to executable.' Before you do that, though, double-click on global game settings, and change the settings to anything you want. You can even change the Icon!

can you help me with getting all the right tools, files, program etc..to make a great game that I had in my mind for a long time. and since the Internet is a note world to me I always had to draw my game and design it on construction paper and did scenes on sticky notes, and had to flip them, pretty funny though you should try it .<
AlternateLives in reply to acoffeeJun 23, 2009. 6:59 AM
The right program for game design (at least seen here) can be found at http://www.yoyogames.com/gamemaker/try. for visual tools, any photo-editing program should work. for audio, I recommend Audacity, a free audio-editing software. it can be found at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/. Also, I know where you're coming from, as I drew up game designs in my notebooks at school. Maybe I should study more...
