How to mod Halo PC

I know theres some people out there still playing halo pc. Im one of them. One day i got bored and decided to start modding to make gameplay fun or to show it off in a video. this video shows what a good modder can accomplish.

Step 1: HMT or HHT

I personally use HMT 3.5

I modded the Infinity map so the rocket launcher fires 50 rockets per shot.

I also made the banshees go disturbingly fast.

Another fun thing is to add colored fog. :D

Well, I tried using HMT again today, but when I try to modify the bullet spread or RPS I get a pop-up that says,"Error trying to update and write structure."

Um... What do i do?

Ignore it. Most times, this is because you completely emptied the data field, or entered an invalid character.

When I'm entering negative numbers, I get this error only when the hyphen is in the data field alone. As soon as I add the numbers, it is fixed.

your mods probbablly are a little to much for the map to handle, there is another way to make them do whatever you want without oit shutting down, i think its called sparkle-ing the map... idk, thats just form me modding a few years ago.

 by ce do you mean combat evolved? as in, we can't use our mods on halo combat evolved, but we can use our on halo custom edition.

can someone help me with hmt???
all i wanted to do was turn up the rate of fire of the pistol in the bloodgulch file
so here is what i did

"open file" (bloodgulch.map) then i went to +[weap]  weapons/pistol/pistol
the drop own menus that say "clip" and "projectile" i put to 0
so all the original numbers came up

then i just changed the clip size a little bit and turned the ROF up a little bit
now what do i do?

click the "save" button under "tag information" ??
cuz when i do that and try to play, it says i need to reinstall halo

"can not open file" i get this error no matter what i do when i go to open map file if i pick any of them it dosnt work its halo trial with hmt i had this working on my laptop a while back(vista 32bit) but now i cant get it to work on my desktop(vista 64bit) ive tried reinstaling a few time. any one else have this proplem? anyone else using vista 64bit any suestions for fixes? thanks i apreciate the help.

i use to modd halo but its been a while the weapons are fun to mod i had a sniper rifle that shot stickys that would go so fast that you could be on one side of gulch and hit some one on the other side with out leading them but when they hit there was no impact damage so they never knew it hit them and THEN the sticky had a 3 min long fuse

well just look in your hardrve you know were that is? hope so because if u dont u fail lol as for maps the only way u can get a map for halo is if u OWN it and if u DOWNLOAD HALO CE okay so if u realllly want a map go buy it and get halo ce

So, I seem to have hit a problem at this particular step. When I attempt to open the game file (not the backup that I created), it says "file not found". But I can open the backup file, and tamper with it. This doesn't do me much good though since it doesnt get put into play when I play the game. What should I do? Any feedback would be highly appreciated, thatnkyou.

a mistake a lot of peeps make when making a back up folder is they use CUT instead of COPY witch will just move the folders to a noter location without actually making a copy.... Try coping ur backup maps into the map folder then try it again if it dont work just reinstall halo and try try agian

cause u did somthin u shouldnt have. This has happened to me many times. Unless u can fix it u have to copy your back up map of it and paste it into the map folder

if theres a box that asks u to continue click yes... Or try (i know this sounds wierd) but right click on the halo startup icon and find RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR... even thought u have those privlidges u still have to da that with things... its the only way i get stuff to work on my comp

great instructable i did it but it took me an evening to work things out and i messed around with everthing: i made the plasma pistol shoot sniper rounds and the assault rocket roands like ures that wos the best!!! i also modded it for tanks but swapping the worthog code for tank code i made the sky black! ty v much i recomend this + 1 rating

hell YES! this brings me back. I used to change my hex files so that the BR shot MC characters, the shotgun had pistol shots, or rockets, the pistol shot sniper rounds, the sniper shot tank round (pone). then i hosted a server. everyones like "OMG awesome!"
