Step 1: Materials

All you need is a skateboard and a helmet (optional)

Step 2: The stance

Picture of The stance
Place your front foot in between the middle of your skateboard and the front trucks. Place your rear foot on the tail (back) of your board putting most of your weight on the ball of your foot.

Step 3: Jumping

Picture of Jumping
Crouch down on your board the more you crouch the higher you will go. Push off of your back foot to jump. Wait until the tail of your board hits the ground.

Step 4: The front foot

Picture of The front foot
After you've jumped slide your front foot up to the nose (front) of your board. This will make your board come up with you.

Step 5: The back foot & getting higher

Lift up your back foot so the back of the board goes higher. Also tuck your legs up when you are in the air. (it will make you go higher)

Step 6: Level it out

Level out the board buy pushing down on the board slightly.

Step 7: Landing

Put both of your feet over the bolts so your board doesn't break if you ollie really high. Extend your legs so they are slightly bent and land.

Step 8: Troubleshooting

These are some things that might happen to you when you ollie.

Credit card
This is where your board comes up and hits you in the groin. This hurts really bad.

Chickenfoot
This is when one of your feet keeps on landing on the ground instead of on the board. Just pretend your feet are attached to the board and this will go away.

If you want to Ollie with no nose on the board, do the exact same thing. If your front foot slips off the front simply don't slide as far

Great instructable. The only thing I need is a way to get myself to jump higher. Do you know any ways to do that?

This is a great instructable. I can ollie now :D
I'm very impressed with your ollie, I kind of expected a little pop considering how young you are, but I'm extremely impressed. I've been skating for years and years myself. I would recommend kicking your front foot out a little farther and kind of pulling the board so it bones out and gets those back wheels up another 6 inches or so. As is your ollie is extremely good for your age, but if you could get those back wheels up a little bit you're gonna be ollie-ing way higher than most skaters twice your age.

no matter how hard I try I cannot get the back up more than a inch it stinks I tried sucking my legs up to my chest and it still wont work does it matter if the board is a "walmart" board or a "easternmoutainsports" board cuz mine is a walmart board and it wont work help
your main problem is your board.
i had this same problem until i got a real board (zero)
after i had this for a good while i can now ollie up a 2 foot loading dock.
just keep trying and you could like pretend to take your foot off the back while your in the air and/or push down a little on your front foot. btw this is still Ekaj i just forgot my password to my email and to my instructables account so sorry for the wait

What is the ball of my foot?
its the part rite below your toes
to get the board higher than "an inch or two" , jump...
recyclebin5 years ago
my problem is that i can only get the back up an inch or two
same here it stinks doesnt it
weelilboy115 years ago
or it dosent jump up with you, or you cant jump
masterj5 years ago
the problem im having is that if i dont jump before the board hits the ground then the board slips out from under me.
like at the start of your ollie? because if you try to slow it down a little it works better (sorry i forgot my old password this is still Ekaj though)
masterj5 years ago
or the board slides out from under you when you land
you left out something important. Your toes on your back foot half to be placed half way on the board and half way off. It'll take much longer to learn if you don't do that.

it kinda says it in step 2 "putting most of the weight on the ball of your foot"
but your foot has to be half way on and half way off the board.
Well, the ball of your foot is pretty much the half of your foot near your toes, so he pretty much said halfway on...
i dont think it really matters as long as the weight is on the balls of your feet
I need some help my back foot keeps coming off the board or hitting down the tail again. Any ideas on how to keep that from happening?
suck your knees into your chest and slide your back foot up a small distance to the rear bolts, and do not resist the decks movements because it will reduce height of the ollie

how do u do it on a old board that has a pointy front
i had a lil pointy nose board before i got my pro board, i dont think it makes much of a dif whether its pointy nosed or curved on both ends when it comes to ollies
