Introduction: How to Open and Clean an Outboard Motor Carburetor
I did this at TechShop Menlo Park's automotive area! www.techshop.com
A clean carburetor improves the performance of your engine. This instructable will show you how to take it apart and clean it.
Step 1: Unscrew and Open
The screws are visible on the face of the carburetor. Take them out completely and gently separate the body. Take care to avoid damaging the gasket.
Step 2: Cleansing!
There are many carburetor cleaning products out there. They come in spray form or in a bucket. You can soak your carburetor in the wash if it's really grimy or just give it a thorough spray until you observe it to be shiny and clean.
Step 3: Reassemble
Make sure to put all the screws and pins in the same places they came out of. ????What the hell is that arm for??? Update: It's for the electric choke!
Step 4: Remount Back to the Motor
Replace all the screws and remember to reattach the throttle with the pin.
Step 5: You Now Have a CLEAN MACHINE!
Go enjoy your day in the water!
