How to play guitar

Step 5Power Chords and 5th chords

These are for electric guitars only! The music for these are:Rock (all versions) and Some old metal (black sabbath Ac/DC ECT....) but anyways a power chord is when you play the first three strings
this is for the G power chord you put you index finger on the E string's (thickest) third fret and you thats the G note then you take your ring finger and put it on the A string put it on the fith fret and take your pinkie and put on the fith fret of the D string and strum THOSE THREE STRING ONLY and once you got those down you can slide them around. A fith chord is the sam thing but with out your pinkie (use the first two strings)

NOTE TO THE AUDIENCE: if you're seriously interested in using power chords even slightly often, you may want to retune your guitar to a drop D (tune your low E down to a D) or a drop C(not really a drop, but tune every string down one, then tune your E (now a D) down to a C) I play in drop D and C quite a bit, as they makes all of the power chords grouped together so that you don't have to split your fingers...

Maybe, but in my opinion drop D tuning is just a comfort zone that too many people get stuck in. 7 out of 10 people who play guitar in drop tuning are looking for an easy short cut to becoming like all their monotone, talentless Disturbed like heros. Go ahead and use drop tuning but just because it sounds kind of cool, and you sound like these contemporary rock bands, and it makes playing guitar easier, dont let your creativity suffer. Spread your fingers out and dont fall into a comfort zone. Drop D has a time and a place. Just my opinion.
