How to Potty Train a Puppy, Depending on how smart your dog is, and how much time you have to train it, will determine how fast your puppy will be potty trained. The younger the dog is the less bladder control it will have, and the more it will need to go.

Step 1: How to Potty Train a Puppy - Step 1

You need give it a place to do its business. (See next step if you have the time to train it to go outside) You can get one of the fancy fake grass potty's, puppy pads, or just newspapers. Then depending if you want your do to go outside, you'll want to put the newspapers or whatever by the door that leads out side. If your puppy will always be going inside then setup the puppy pads where you want it to go.

Step 2: How to Potty Train a Puppy - Step 2

If your able to stay home, and want to train you puppy to go outside. Then you have to give it the option to go every few hours. When it wakes up, before it goes to bed, before and after it eats or drinks, and when it gets excited. This may take time, depending on the breed of your dog (how smart it is), and the time you have to spend with it. Chameleons as Pets.

Now your all setup, when your puppy goes potty outside, or on the puppy pad. Then you need to praise, pet it, or give it a treat, letting it know it did something good. You need to do this right after it goes, so your puppy associates going potty in the right spot with something good.

Now when your puppy doesn't go in the right spot, you have to let it know you did something wrong. Raise you voice, throw something toward it, shake your finger. Then immediately take to the right place, and praise it. If you don't catch it going potty in the wrong place, its to late. Dogs only remember about 3 seconds after the do something, so if you don't catch it within the 3 seconds, then you yell at it. Your puppy wont know why.

Now you know How to potty train a puppy, its time to put it use. Remember to be consistent when train you puppy, this will help it learn faster.
