So you want games on your TI 84 plus CSE calculator? Well here's how.

Step 1: What You Will Need

Picture of What You Will Need

1.) Your TI 84 + CSE calculator

2.) A mini USB to USB adaptor (should have come with your calculator)

3.) A computer (must have a windows or mac operating system)

That's it!

Step 2: Download TI Connect

The first step is to download TI connect. This program will allow your computer to communicate with your calculator and let you download games (or other programs) onto it.

TI Connect

Mac: Click here (Fig. 1)

Windows:Click here (Fig. 2)

Once you have Downloaded the software, go through the process of installing it. ONCE THE INSTALLATION IS DONE, BE SURE TO RESTART YOUR COMPUTER!

Step 3: Connect Your Calculator

Once you have TI Connect up and running you will need to connect your calculator. To do this, simply plug your calculator into the computer and open up TI Device Explorer. (Fig. 1) Eventually an image of your calculator will appear in Device Explorer along with how much space is available. (Fig. 2)

You are now ready for some games!

Step 4: Select Your Game(s)

There are a few places that you can download games from and also different types of games (Flash, Assembly, BASIC) you can pick.

1.) My personal suggestion is that you download flash type games. (these do not require doors CSE and come in application form)

You can find flash games here (Pac-Man, Frogger, Buttonz...)

2.) Another option is to go with Assembly type games. Most of these games require doors CSE (see next step)

Assembly games can be found here (Tetris, Snake...), here (Portal, Stacker...) or here (Space invaders, solitaire...)

3.) The final option is to use BASIC games. If you use BASIC you will have the widest selection range but they are much slower and they require doors CSE.

You can find these games here (Flappy Bird, Pong, Minesweeper...)

Step 5: Doors CSE (if Needed)

If the game you decided to download was either a BASIC game or an assembly game that required Doors CSE to run, you will need to first add it to your calculator. You can find this program here. (Fig. 1)Once the download is complete you are going to want to open back up TI Device Explorer. Open Doors CSE in finder and drag only the icon with the lightning bolt onto the picture of your calculator. (Fig. 2) Your calculator will have a popup saying receiving Doors CSE. Once it the operation is complete look through Device Explorer and make sure it has Doors CSE. (Fig. 3)

Step 6: Putting the Games on the Calculator

Flash games: Open up the games download in Finder and drag the icon with the lightning bolt onto the calculator image in TI Device Explorer (Fig. 1). Once your calculator receives the game there will be two new folders (Fig. 2). You can now play the game by pressing the applications (apps) button and starting up the game.

Assembly games: Open up the game download in finder and drag ALL of the icons with lightning bolts onto the calculator image in TI Device Explorer (Fig. 3). All of the folders should show up in TI Device Explorer (Fig. 4). You can now play the game by pressing the applications (apps) button and starting up the game.

BASIC games: Open up the game download in finder and drag all of the icons with lightning bolts as well as all icons with three hexagons onto the calculator image in TI Device Explorer (Fig. 5). All the folders should show up in TI Device Explorer (Fig. 6). You can now play the game by pressing the program (prgm) button and starting the program. (BASIC games will get deleted when you reset the RAM).

In the links I provided, there should be a button which allows you to download the zip file your game of choice. Once downloaded it will show up in your downloads folder. All you need to do then is to drag the needed icons into TI-Connect and you should be good to go.

Hope this helps!
