Step 3: Step 3: Connect

I'm using my iPod. Just connect as you usually would.
pretty sweet
My lenovo came standard with a GUI for hosting networks, its built right into my wireless network GUI. Just another tab.
Thank you for sharing this idea. I did not know about connectify and I am glad to learn this. I rather work with a GUI. Others can type command lines if they want to.
I lot of people don't realise that connectify and similar software, are doing what is already built into win7 (it's a shame they didn't include a gui)... to set your win7 laptop to act as an access point, all you need to do is drop into an admin cmd prompt...

netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=APNAME key=APKEY

From then on, whenever you want your virtual access point to run... you could simply run an admin cmd file with the following command...

netsh wlan start hostednetwork

You can substitute start with stop (to stop it) or show (for connection info)

If you want to share internet simply use ICS by selecting say the real wifi adapter and share to Wireless Network Connection 2... you can even change the IP range from 192.168.2.x to anything else by using regedit see [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\SharedAccess\Parameters]
True, but connectify has more features and yes, a gui.
All you need to do this comes on a standard Windows Installation...
windows will only share a wireless connection with a wired connection, it wont rebroadcast a wireless connection.
Actually this does work, at least on my laptop it does.
connectify will work fine, i use it to connect my desktop to my router which is just out of range. im saying windows itself wont do this without third party software like this.
Well yeah, that's why I made this instructables.
Every version of windows after Vista can.
grate sharing..
