Another Tip. My skates were looking past their best on the toes. I coated them with Resin from a Fibre Glass Kit and they have lasted years.

An alternative to getting rid of the rust is to prevent it in the first place. If you have expensive skates you dont want any rust as it will ruin your edge quality. All you have to do is use a rag, and wipe down the blade after skating, and once the blade has become room temperature, wipe down again. Leaving the skates on a soft surface to air out, and voila, you have proper skate care.
