Introduction: How to Replace Brake Pads and Discs on a Porsche 944

Here you will see how to replace worn brake pads and discs on a 1989 Porsche 944

Step 1: Jack the Car

First, jack the car for a save and secure stand.

Step 2: Clean the Caliper

Now clean the caliper so your hands don t get that dirty...

Step 3: Disconnect the Contacts for Brake Wear and ABS

Disconnect the cables. Upper ist for pad wear

Step 4: Remove the Pads

This kind of cross holds the brake pads in place. With a big screwdriver you can take it off the upper part of the caliper, but careful.
Fold it down and remove the pads by pulling with a pair of pliers or a screwdriver.

Step 5: Remove the Caliper

Unscrew the caliper. 2 Screws only and secure it with something so the caliper does not fall on the ground. Care is needed. Clean caliper again.

Step 6: Check the Pads

Take the new pads and make sure you do not touch the inner side with your fingers.
Keep them clean.

Step 7: Remove the Brake Disc

Remove the disc by unscrewing the only screw.
The you will need a screwdriver to take the disc off.
Look at the pics...

Step 8: Just a Picture

This is how it should look like now.
Clean and take off rust. Use a steelen brush.

Step 9: Place the Disc

Put the disc in place and plug in the screw. Keep clean!
Then plug in the pads and secure them w/ the cross.

Step 10: Secure

This is where the cross is pulled in (Watch finger tip)

Step 11: Check and Clean

make sure everything is tight and the disc will turn well.
Clean everything well.
