Hi me and my partner love tie dying and have tried so many differnet ways but everytime we rinse off our tshirts they seem to fade and dont look so vibrant like yours. What are we doing wrong? We soak in soda ash solution for 10 mins, then wring out and fold, add bands then squirt on our dye. We then leave this for 24 hrs but still they look faded. Can u help please?

Can this method be used with "RIT" dyes instead??

Cool - this just gave me an idea to tie-dye my beddings that have gone dingy too!

Make sure there is a high percentage of cotton in the bedding (at least 60% cotton) If your sheets are 100% polyester the dye will not bond, but rinse out immediately. The lower ratio of cotton to man-made fibres makes the finished item more pastel in colour! Good luck. The spiral fold is the best one for large items by the way....

Stinkymum, how in the WORLD did you learn to do all this beautiful tie dye work? I'm blown away by all the beautiful colors!! Did you take a class, read a book, learn on your own......which is it? Or, is this just a natural talent? I'm going to find every lesson you've put on the site and practice till I can do this perfectly. Thanks SO much for posting this lesson....I believe it's going to be a tie dye house around here before long. Hehehehehe Blessings, robyn

I go to summer camp each year and learnt to do it there. No I teach others how to do it (i.e. girl scouts and youth groups)

I'm SO excited to try this, that I'm going to bed early tonite so I get an early start in the morning. What a wonderful spiral pattern!! Thanks so much for sharing it! I'm gonna do all my "dingy" sheets and pillow cases also.

Wow! I've seen the shirts, seen the kits, but never seen someone actually do the dying! This is a work of art!
