This is a tutorial on how to use the GoPro Hero HD camera from A-Z

Step 1: Before we start

Before we start:
  -Make sure the battery is in the camera and charged.
  -Put on the housing (the housing lens affects the image, so if it's not on your image may look distorted)

i am going on a trip and wonder if it would be good for video and stills at various tourist places.

yeah! it's a great camera, it's only problem is in low light conditions, where the video looks dusty and a bit unfoused, but they solved this with the GoPro Hero 2.

Also, if you are trying to take pictures or videos of anything that is more than 20 yards away, you probably won't like the outcome. The gopro cameras have wide angle lenses for close up action shots, full landscape shots with distance is a bit hard to see.

Just a hint, it's not that hard to read the car's plate with those lines there- you might want to cover it up on the actual image if you're overly concerned about it.
