Introduction: How to Download Flash Games With Firefox
There are many ways to download flash games and most of them are not very comfortable. This instructable will show you how to download them in Firefox really easy using "Video DownloadHelper". It will take a little time to configure it the right way, but you will need even less time to download the games.
Step 1: What Do I Need?
The only things you need are:
-the Firefox web browser (I guess you already use Firefox, otherwise: Why are you reading this? o.O)
-the Firefox add-on "DownloadHelper"
Step 2: Install the Add-on
First you need to install the add-on Video DownloadHelper. You can get it here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006. Just click Add to Firefox and restart Firefox.
DownloadHelper was primary made to download flash videos from You Tube or similar pages. But I found a way to download flash games with it, too.
Step 3: The Right Settings
If you visit pages with flash videos now, the DH-icon will appear colored and animated and if you click on it, you'll get a list with flv-files. But we don't want to download videos, we want games. To make the add-on detect games, you have to add "swf" (the file type flash games are) to the list of file types DH shall detect.
Right click on the DH icon to open the DH preferences and click on Capture. Now type "swf" in the box and click Add.
But that's not enough. You have to disable the option Ignore media below size (KB), because many flash games are very small, so that DH would ignore them.
Step 4: Download the Game
Visit a site with flash games now. The DH-icon will appear colored and animated. Click on the arrow next to the icon and you'll find the flash game in the list. To download it, you only have to move your mouse over the entry in the list and then click on Download.
Step 5: Play Your Downloaded Games!
To play the game open it with Firefox or every different browser. If you want to open it easier, book mark it or if you've downloaded many games, make a simple html-file with links to the files.
Note: This will open the game as big as possible and sometimes causes problems. If that happens, you need to write a little html document where you embed the game with the right width and height. To find the values have a look into the source code of the page where the game is hosted (search for the embed-tag).
