For this part you will need:
  • Light diffusers from dollar store solar lights
  • Strips of flexible metal
  • Hot glue
  • Epoxy
  • Small incandescent bulbs
  • Speaker wire
  • Two large washers
Building the dome lights was surprisingly easy, and I think they look very nice. I used the light diffusers from a couple of solar lights, which I hot glued to the holders from a couple of old incandescent bulbs. I wrapped each one in strips of zinc, though you could use any thin, flexible metal, such as strips cut from a soda can. Why do I have old incandescent bulbs and strips of zinc? Because science, that's why. Also, many thanks to my friend Loren for donating the old school electronics!

Once finished, each light was glued to a large washer. A length of speaker wire ran through that and into the helmet, and the whole thing was hot glued / epoxied in place.
