Step 1: Do you want fries with that???

Materials:

Potato
Iron piece
Plastic piece of a car window motor
Car toy wheel
Playstation joystick eccentric motor
2 oven knobs
2 iron angles
nuts and screws
1 AA Battery box
1 socket
Various plastic pieces

And don't forget the M.C. Langer building rules:

1. If you don't have it, replace it!
2. Use protective equipment (well, it's just a potato. But if you need protection, use it!)
3. Beware of drilled and soldered hot surfaces
4. Work in a good ventilated area.
5. Always have junk in stock
6. Enjoy!

Its like Mr. Potato Head only 100 times cooler.

How about Robotato?? Cool bot, I like it alot! Hey that rhymes! lol 5/5
M.C. Langer (author) says: Aug 28, 2010. 9:27 PM
LOL!! I love it!!
yoyology says: Jun 8, 2010. 2:39 PM
Could you use the old science fair trick of zinc and copper electrodes in the potato itself to power the motor?
M.C. Langer (author) says: Jun 8, 2010. 2:46 PM
Maybe. But I don't know if it has enough voltage. And you will need a better motor than a joystick one.
yoyology says: Jun 8, 2010. 2:59 PM
Worth fiddling with. Maybe I'll give it a try. Great 'ible, by the way. I think I want to get a poster with M. C. Langer's rules on it to put in my workshop. Of course, I need a workshop first. :-)
M.C. Langer (author) says: Jun 8, 2010. 3:05 PM
WOW!!! Thanks Yoyology!! Well, it was a last minute 'ible, because I wanted to take the "I made it" Challenge on the Scoochmaroo's Potatobots article, and it looked like a cool idea. But now, I'm working in more instructables. More planters, one vibrobot and a big prop gun. Mmmm... a poster? I love the idea!!!!
NostalgicStone says: Jun 14, 2010. 9:48 PM
I also love the idea. I see a thing going on here, the anticipation begins :)
juanoporras says: Jun 8, 2010. 10:40 PM
hey yoyology, probably you can do that and add a cap somewhere so it recharges/discharges and giving vibration bursts, probably you want to use a cellphone vibrator, these ones draw less current. Im no electronics expert but know about a thing or two, hopefully this can work out. somebody with more knowledge about this please comment! cya!
NostalgicStone says: Jun 14, 2010. 9:45 PM
Awesome. oh and I LOVE IT!

No, seriously, where from do you take so many oven knobs? :D Anyways, great instructable!
M.C. Langer (author) says: Jun 9, 2010. 8:31 AM
LOL!!! Thanks Skiedra! Well, my city Bogotá has streets with specialized commerce. We have two areas with electronic components commerce, one with cellphones hackers, a lot with hardware shops, and so on. Bogotá has a main avenue called "Avenida Caracas", where are a lot of stoves and ovens spare parts shops. There is where I buy my knobs, everyone costs 50 dollar cents. Bogotá is a very complete city!!! :-) I love oven knobs. My contribution to humanity will be transform oven knobs into junkbots legs... LOL!!!!
skiedra says: Jun 9, 2010. 9:12 AM
Aye, there are many great things in this distant South American city. It a shame you did not elect Mockus, who's parents came from my country - Lithuania.
M.C. Langer (author) says: Jun 9, 2010. 11:16 AM
Not so fast, my friend! In Colombia, our democratic system has something called "Two rounds". In the first round, all the candidates for President participate. If no one can get the 51% of Colombian votes, then the two best voted candidates participate in the second round. We are waiting for the second round, between Juan Manuel Santos (the winner of the first round, successor and favorite of the actual President Álvaro Uribe Vélez) and Antanas Mockus (a non-political college teacher who was one of the best former Mayors in the Bogotá history). But the political situation is tense, because the Mockus fans tell that Santos is corrupt and made electoral fraud (thanks to be the favorite of the actual President), and the corruption and violence will be deeper because he's a troublemaker; and the Santos fans tell that Mockus is a clown who has no idea of how to govern a country, and the violence will be deeper because we need a military solution, and Mockus wants to make pedagogy and teach us how to be good citizens. Well, I want Mockus for President. But in this moment and this place, the only votation I care is for the Garden Contest. LOL!!!! :-)
