I through together an Ikea hack of my own, though not as in-depth as yours. I have an Ikea side-board that has 4 compartments and 4 doors with frosted glass on them. Each compartment has a glass shelf in the middle. I left off the doors on either end to "display" some my TV/Sci-Fi memorabelia and mounted the center doors to swing outward from the center. I removed the backing behind the center 2 compartments and have my stereo/home entertainment system in there. I replaced the legs with casters so the entire cabiner can easily roll and I can access the back easily. I topped it off with a 12-outlet power strip mounted across the back.
